“welcome to my house”

-your brand new baby

In a world that might feel a little crazy and unpredictable with this new life you’ve created…in-home sessions give you the luxury of feeling prepared for anything. If worst comes to worst - you’re already home!

The most basic way to prep for an in-home session is simply realizing that the baby runs the show.

If we need to take a break to change a diaper - we do.
If we need to pause to feed the baby - we do.
If they are fussy and just wanted to be held and walked around for a while - that’s what we do.

Go with the flow is the name of the game

There are just a couple things that I recommend going into your session ~

TURN UP THE HEAT

We might be dressing/undressing your babe a couple times - and that could give anyone the chills!
I recommend turning the thermostat up a couple degrees before the session just to ensure your little one doesn’t get too cold (ie upset).

A FED BABY IS A HAPPY BABY

Do your best to feed the baby close before the session starts! A full baby is going to be a happier baby, even if that does mean they are a little sleepy. Don’t worry! We’ll be moving around and changing outfits, so they will generally perk up even if they’re dozing at the beginning.

Whether your little one is knocked out asleep or wiggly and wide-eyed - we will get some great shots! Just know every session is different, just as every babe is different.

Just like any portrait session - simple, neutral, natural tones are a great go-to when considering what to wear.
Having some neutral-colored blankets or swaddlers at the ready is also a plus. :)
